IN GRATITUDE: Just a note to let you know how grateful I am for all of our coaches, swimmers and families.  My “little idea” to start my own team over 15 years ago has blossomed into something I am so proud of.  Watching the meet this weekend, seeing kids conquer new events, learn how to get up on the blocks and try their hardest… it was beautiful.  In a world where there are a lot of really unfathomable things going on, we have the opportunity to let kids be kids.  They get to swim and learn and grow and just be.  We are so lucky. Thank you for being on the swimming journey with BAY. -marisa

MEET RECAP: We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful weekend to host a meet.  The weather was GLORIOUS (so grateful to have dodged the rain), we had tons of volunteers helping run the most efficient event and so many swimmers overcame big time nerves to prove to themselves what the coaches knew all along- that they COULD conquer those races!

Hosting meets is an important part of running youth programming in our area.  We hope to host more in the future, especially since we can control the flow of the meet (to make it easier for all of the swimmers.)  If you missed the meet this time around, we do hope you will attend a meet in the future.  Competing is part of being on a competitive swim team.  It’s ok if the kids are nervous, we want to help them through it!!!  Even coming to watch a meet before trying one is a great way to see what it’s all about. We welcome all the questions, all the nerves and all the mistakes.  Big life lessons are learned through youth sports and we want to provide the safe space for them to learn LOTS!

A special thank you to Mr. Swihart, Mrs. Townsend and Mrs. Oldfield for stepping up and becoming officials for the team.  Without them, we wouldn’t be able to keep being a team- seriously, it’s THAT IMPORTANT to have officials.  If you are interested in learning more about becoming a stroke & turn official or administrative official, please let me know.  There will be a clinic on January 27-28 in Morgan Hill.

Results are uploaded onto the site.  Ribbons will be ready for pickup at WG (since many Crossgates swimmers will be at WG on Friday and Saturday, they can get them then OR they will be brought to XG next week.) We are also trying to get the ribbons from the last two meets at QSS… it’s a process for them to get them to us.  I appreciate your patience.

VOLUNTEERING AT SACRED HEART:

Saturday, Dec 16 from 1-4pm for ages 10+: https://www.tfaforms.com/4665815?&tfa_2392=a27Qr000000ABjl&tfa_2393=a1y0a000001AsxO

END OF FALL SESSION AND WINTER RACE TEAM REGISTRATION: The Fall Race Team session is now over.  Session evaluations will be emailed to you this week.  If your swimmer will be joining us for the Winter Session, they will resume the week of December 4.  If you will be taking the Winter off, but would like to join us in the Spring, please mark February 1 on your calendar as a reminder to register!  All those NOT currently members of the team will have your accounts suspended this week and no weekly newsletters sent after today. If you’d like to join us for the new session, but you’ve forgotten to register, don’t delay!

SAFE SPORT ZOOM TRAININGS: USA Swimming Safe Sport staff is hosting Zoom training for parents and minor athletes to assist clubs in completing the Training and Education requirement of the Safe Sport Club Recognition program. If you haven’t already done this training, please check your schedules to see if this month’s sessions work for you. All participants will need to register to attend training.  These trainings are a great way to reinforce safety within ALL youth sports organizations. There is ALWAYS time to make time for something as important as this!

 Parent Training: December 6, 8 p.m. ET | REGISTER

Athlete Training (12-17 years old): December 7, 8 p.m. ET | REGISTER
