CROSSGATES PRACTICE SCHEDULE
WGHS PRACTICE SCHEDULE
WINTER RACE TEAM: The new session begins this week at Crossgates and Willow Glen HIGH School (not middle school.) If you missed the Welcome Letter, it can be found here. If you do not have a current USA Swimming registration, be sure to follow the link previously sent to register your child by the end of this week (do NOT register the parent as the athlete or you will have to register again and end up paying twice!) Those not registered by Friday will be contacted to sign up. They will not be able to get in the water for practice if they are not registered by Monday, December 11.
HOLIDAY SWIM FEST RECAP: It was a great experience for our Arizona travelers at they headed to Tempe for the four day meet. Only 2 of them had competed in this meet before, so there was a lot of learning going on as they raced in the meet with teams from across the Western US. We had three top 20 swims (denoted with an *), two swimmers with 100% lifetime bests (Nathan and Giana), a team high 13th place relay (Boys 400 Free Relay) and loads of memories from this experience.
Below is a list of all the best times swam over the weekend.
-
Marissa- 1000 Free, 1650 Free* (16th), 50/100 Fly, 200 Fly* (10th)

PRIVATE LESSONS: Coach Claire has some available Tuesday and Thursday lessons at WGHS if your swimmer is interested in getting a bit of a boost. Sign up on the events page under “job signup”. Your account will be charged directly for the lessons.
THIS WEEKEND’S MEET IN MORGAN HILL: If your swimmer is racing in the Dec 9-10 meet in Morgan Hill, please be sure to secure a volunteer shift now. If your swimmer is racing both days, please pick a shift on Sunday. The weekend’s meet guide will be sent later today in a separate email.
UPCOMING MEETS:Sign ups for the January meet are fast approaching. The meet is a Championship meet, meaning we are racing to score points. The more swimmers we have, the better! Especially for both days of racing. There will also be relays for each age group (double points!) NOTE: Gold, JV, JV+ swimmers are required to attend ONE meet each quarter (every 3 months.) Varsity and Senior swimmers are required to attend monthly meets. Race Team and Prep have no meet requirements, but are encouraged to attend (or come observe for an hour for your swimmer to see what it’s like before signing up!)
Once meet RSVPs pass, it is too late to add them. From the time the meet entries open online until they fill to capacity is just a matter of a few hours, so double check the family schedule and get those RSVPs in promptly. We are assigned volunteer shifts based on the number of swimmers we have entered, so it’s important to come on the days you’ve signed up!
VOLUNTEERING AT SACRED HEART: A very popular activity for our BAY swimmers and parents has been spending time volunteering at Sacred Heart. We have some shifts reserved for us on Saturday, Dec 16 from 1-4pm for ages 10+. If that doesn’t work, be sure to check out their volunteer page to sign up for a different day.
SAFE SPORT ZOOM TRAININGS: USA Swimming Safe Sport staff is hosting Zoom training for parents and minor athletes to assist clubs in completing the Training and Education requirement of the Safe Sport Club Recognition program. If you haven’t already done this training, please check your schedules to see if this month’s sessions work for you. All participants will need to register to attend training. These trainings are a great way to reinforce safety within ALL youth sports organizations. There is ALWAYS time to make time for something as important as this!
Parent Training: December 6, 8 p.m. ET | REGISTER
Athlete Training (12-17 years old): December 7, 8 p.m. ET | REGISTER
